About us
Ada's Tribe empowers women in Data & AI to build confidence and careers through authentic connection.
Our Purpose
Data & AI is moving faster than any individual can keep track of. As AI grows, we believe all women need access to knowledge and skills in these rapidly evolving areas. We bring together women at every career stage, from leaders in Data & AI to those building their foundations, to share and learn faster, together.
Our community provides a safe space for women to grow together as learners, builders (creators, designers, developers, engineers) and leaders.
We are inspired by Ada Lovelace, the mother of computing, a self-driven learner who pioneered computer programming through curiosity, exploration and recognising patterns across disciplines. In this spirit, we grow women to lead the responsible and safe use of Data & AI across our spheres of influence.
Why We Exist
We are at a critical time for humanity. The AI technology currently shaping our world is being built without half of humanity at the table. The decisions about Data & AI are being made without the values, lived experience and diverse perspectives that women bring. At the same time, AI is being supplied with vast quantities of personal data that most of us contribute to but few are fully aware of. AI is using that data to make recommendations to us, about us and for us.
Women are underrepresented in AI and most likely to be affected by workforce changes:
- Only 26 per cent of AI professionals are women.
- Women are 16 per cent less likely than men to use generative AI tools for work.
- Only 28 per cent of women report using AI regularly, compared to 45 per cent of men.
As AI reshapes every industry and profession, women risk being left behind, not because they lack capability, but because they have a different set of barriers to overcome.
Women Bring Values
AI systems learn from who uses them and how. When women are absent from development and underrepresented in the use of AI, their questions go unasked, their challenges go unsolved and their values go unembedded.
Women in leadership ask different questions and consider others. Many of us have been caregivers. We ask how people will feel, how trust is built and how technology serves rather than harms. These are the questions that determine whether AI becomes a force for good or simply a faster version of existing inequalities. AI needs these voices. The future needs these voices.
We urgently need women and diverse perspectives to actively shape the responsible and safe use of Data & AI.
Who We Welcome
Ada’s Tribe is open to those identifying as women in Data & AI, at any career stage. We welcome allies of all genders who share our commitment to empowering women in Data & AI.
Be part of fixing the biggest design flaw in the fastest-moving technology in human history!
